Training is the key to any fire departments efficiency, the training officers must be recognized as key personnel within the organization. Even though these individuals may be assigned the responsibility of presenting instruction to department members, it does not relieve other officers of their responsibility to participate in the training program. Providing an effective training program is an important responsibility that requires a commitment from all officers in the fire department. As a fire department training officer, your responsibility is to design a training schedule that meets NFPA 1001/1002 and try to make training fun. you must try to provide for “content” type activities that has a useful purpose. your commitment is to provide a training schedule & lesson plans which should be supplied to the members of the department for there input before being published.
